If you are a General Contractor in the home improvement field and you have a website, but don’t know how to market it during this recession setback.  This article can help you get started.

The basics of any form of marketing/advertising is to get in front of many eyeballs, anywhere.  For the purpose of this article, everything is all about online, being seen on the internet.  The other reason for showing your mug, I mean your business cause its basically free.

On the internet you should have your own business website.  If you don’t no problem, we will cover that next.  Here is a list of some business directories site and social site:

  • Google Local Business
  • Yahoo Local
  • Hot Frog
  • Merchant Circle

These are just to name a few. What you want to do is create a profile with these sites and tell them what you do.  Whats important is to be sure that your business is listed in the correct category.  If you use a lead generation company that gets you leads, ask if they have a blog or some sort of page that you can build your profile to showcase.

There are more in this list that are in the thounsands, which I think you can look it up.  Once you’re about to input your business information into the endless list of business/social sites.  You need to partake in some of the conversation in their forum if they have any.

Give sound advices, do this slowly.  I repeat slowly, if you don’t, they will call you a spammer.  lol!  I know what gives.  So it doesn’t matter if you are a plumber or a window sales guy from West Coast Vinyl, you can all do this.

Welcome to the world of social media. Yes, you can make connections, but if you’re too strong about it.  You will get the boot!

Chances are that you may be on a budget so you’re probably doing this yourself.  So again, be careful.  Think of it as a party that your at, you just don’t come off asking people if they want to buy your product.  You have to ease them into it.  So it takes patiences when your in a conversation.  Good Luck!
